December Update
Sunday, December 16, 2007

I'm getting complaints that not only have I been slacking on blogging, but all my latest posts are me bitchin all the time. So believe it or not, but I'm not going to bitch in this post. I'm actually happy for once, and it's because I had a great weekend. Pretty much started the weekend off Friday night, when I went to the Laugh Factory in LA to see none other than Dane Cook. Oh my Lord, I love this man. Love love love him. I didn't go to his Rough Around the Edges tour showing in Anaheim last week, only because the seats I would've had were crappy and not worth the 50some dollars.

Instead, the Laugh Factory had him headlining for some charity event, and it was only $25 plus a 2 drink minimum. My wonderful friend Siao called me just a few days ago and asked if I wanted to see Dane. So despite the 2 hour drive from the OC to LA, I was pumped up and excited. This was even better than watching him in a big arena, because he was literally like 30 feet away from me. If you're not familiar with Dane Cook's standup, it's pretty much him talking about every day stuff that's nothing new or exciting. I'd say it's more of his delivery of the content that cracks me up. He is definitely MY kind of humor. And I love that he's a big geek too. He makes a lot of gaming/Star Wars/movie references that only other geeks would know. So I was star struck all night, but unfortunately I didn't get a picture.

Saturday was a relaxing day, just read all morning, finally got up to do errands, then got ready for my Firm Holiday Party. My brother met me there and I came separately with some gal pals from work. This year was different. No casino night, live band instead of DJ, and only one line for food as opposed to the international style buffet. But oddly enough, I had a BLAST. The night went by so fast and it was great catching up with coworkers and friends I haven't seen in awhile. My bro and I were able to bust out a couple of swing dance moves, and he was content with the unlimited supply of alcohol at the open bar. I think the highlight of the evening though, was when they announced the winners of the raffle prizes. This year, everyone got 5 tickets each, and you could drop your tickets into various boxes of prizes. I distributed mine as follows: 2 for iPod, 2 for Day Spa Package, and 1 for season tickets to LA Galaxy. As they announced all the winners, I coulda swore all my prizes were announced so I started to walk away. Then all of a sudden I heard Daphne! and I could not believe it. I NEVER win raffles. Never. I didn't even know what I won, I was just so shocked that I heard my name. I went up to the stage and whispered to the announcer, "Wait what did I win?" I won the Day Spa Package. Can you believe that? So freakin awesome.

You and my niece and the Dane Cook crush. She saw the concert and goes to some comedy club (Laugh Factory?) when she knows DC is there.

Congrats on spa package. That's something to look forward to.

Merry Christmas! Are you taking any time off?

Hey Isabel! Yah I'm pretty stoked, just because I never pay to pamper myself like this, plus I never win anything. I'm excited.

Hey Rosie! Yah I probably saw your niece at the Laugh Factory and didn't even know it. Small world. Merry Christmas to you too! I hadn't planned on taking time off, mostly because I've been going to a bunch of holiday events/parties for the office and such. But I'll try to take it easy next week. You?

Nope no time off for me. I'm a newbie, but it will be quiet with so many people out so it should be a week to get caught up.

BTW, that Free Rice vocab thing? Addicting!
