What the heck man. I'm watching some random show on the TLC channel. At first it just appears to be a regular makeover show, but here's the premise: they find women that look older and frumpy, give them a makeover to make them look "ten year younger" and when the transformation is over, they put the woman in a glass box (think a phone booth without the phone) and ask random people on the street how old they think the woman is. See I have no problem with makeover shows. The woman was thrilled to find out people thought she was 36ish when she was in her late 40's. But here's the problem - I only caught the tail end of the show. Then a second episode began right after. Here's what I didn't know. They do the glass thing before the makeover, so that people on the street can comment on how old and frumpy the woman looks. And here's what makes it awful, they show the woman clips of what the people say. "Her skin has all these brown spots, reminds me of my grandma." I swear when the woman saw/heard that, she looked like she was going to cry. She recovered out of it by putting on a fake smile and saying "Well this is why I need to start paying attention to my appearance now." I mean geez... did we really have to show her the clips? That sucks man. Why not just say, we polled a bunch of people on the street and they guessed your age is between this and this. So let's give you a glamorous makeover, suga! Nope. Instead - check out all these people talking smack about you. They said you look beat girl. Beat. Eh whatever. I'm still watching anyway. I wanna see how she turns out. :) Labels: TV shows |
LOL @ you still watching it anyway.
I watch that show, and I like seeing the end results, but I agree it jacked up for them to show the person the clips. I've watched several of the shows and I always cringe at that part. *sigh*
