Happy New Year!
Tuesday, January 01, 2008
Happy 2008 everyone! I can't believe how the time flies. It's already January, so this pretty much means I'm going to be very behind on my blog postings from now until end of March or even April. So sorry in advance! Anyway, I usually never make formal resolutions, but I do have one for sure this year: to be a better friend.

I know I'm busy all the time, but so is everyone else; and often times I feel like my excuses for not keeping in touch are lame. I'm checking my personal emails less often, and now that I think about it, I'd probably save more time by just picking up the freakin phone. I have first cousins who live around the corner from me, about twenty houses down, who I see once every two months or so. Very sad. I have all these online/blog friends who live across the U.S., some even in Canada, Australia, etc. The closest one to me is Rowena, who lives about 20 minutes away, and gosh, I barely see her (sorry I'm such a bum Wena!).

So that's my wish for 2008. For all of my friends (you know who you are), I just want you to know that even though I don't say it often, I really am thankful to have you as a friend. Even though I don't call, or respond to emails right away, please know that I am still here for you. Time is precious, so let's not waste it.

Alright enough mushy stuff. Speaking of friends, you ever have that one friend who you suspect is only your friend when her other "real friends" aren't around to hang out with her? I've got this friend who I love to death, but with her, it's always a toss up. You never know what mood she might be in, and believe me, you don't wanna be around her when she's crabby. When it's just us (this girl, me, and Natalie), we have a great time, and laugh till we cry. But she's also got this other friend.... and the only way I can describe this other girl... is that she is the "sex and the city" friend. The let's go scope out the hotties in clubs/bars/etc. friend.

Here's the thing: I don't blame my friend for wanting to hang out with this girl in that context, since I don't do any of that clubbing type stuff anymore. But I feel like my friend is just living vicariously through this other girl. Whereas sex and the city (SATC) girl would probably end up having a one night stand, I really believe my friend wouldn't go through with it. But she wants to live that "exciting" type of life and be like her friend. Hey, what she does on her own time with SATC girl is none of my business. But I don't like it when she becomes this totally different person when, on that rare occasion, we all happen to be hanging out together (SATC girl included). It's like I might as well not even be there, she completely ignores me and Natalie. Whatever. I've sorta just come to terms with it, and I don't let it bother me. I think it hurts Natalie a bit more, and that's what makes me sad. Natalie is probably one of the most selfless people I know. Always thinking of others before herself. Nat, if you're reading this, don't let her get to ya okay?

I hate you all...

No not really. But I'm in a really sh*tty mood today. I've got a major deadline this Friday for my audit client and I have to get it done so I can leave for my vacation... stress-free. At least that's the goal.

Anyway, this is why I'm pissed off. *warning.... lots of rambling ahead* I'm a morning person. I know most people aren't, but I am. I get so much work done in the morning, b/c I'm awake, focused, and I always outline my list of things to do for the day. I normally pass by Starbucks before work, but I never really eat my muffin or whatever it is I have for the day. I know breakfast is the most important meal but I'm always so busy in the morning I let that muffin sit there until 3pm.

My staff however, seem to think about lunch as soon as the morning starts. Most auditors in my office eat at 11:30 to avoid the crowds, but whenever I'm busy I sometimes lose track of time. Every freakin day, around 10:30am, one of my staff will always ask "So what're we doing for lunch today?" For this particular job I'm on, we normally order food in every day. It's all paid for, so our choices aren't limited to fast food... however, we always pick the same places in the area. We normally eat Corner Bakery, CPK, El Torito, etc. And every day I tell my staff the same thing, I don't care, just pick a place, print out a menu and pass it to me so I can put my order down. Seriously, I'm not trying to be a bitchy "boss" but dude, they all know I never have time to go out to eat. I don't mind if they go out and eat, just bring me something back. But why oh why is the whole lunch selection process so difficult?

It annoys the hell out of me that this guy asks what's for lunch every single day... at freakin 10:30am! Dude, I'm still drinking my Starbucks at 10:30, how can I possibly think about lunch right now? Why don't you shut up and get back to work? The firm doesn't pay you to talk about lunch for 30 minutes every single day.

Now my dear friend Natalie knows this story, and how annoyed I get by this staff. So she IMs me at exactly 10:30 today saying "What's for lunch?" I thought, dude that's so not funny and she replies saying "LOL - Sorry, I was just trying to annoy you."

WTF, you're trying to annoy me? Why oh why? You KNOW how much I can't stand that question. So I proceed to tell her that she's my friend and I love her to death, but if she were sitting next to me at the moment I woulda throttled her. The moment I start telling her this... my staff blurts out "So what's for lunch today?" At precisely 10:35am (he's off by 5 minutes today). OMG, I'm seriously going to shoot all of you. I hate you all.

Anyway, I guess Natalie felt bad about pissing me off so she sent me an email with the subject "SURPRISE" and the following picture...

Natalie, if you're reading this... you KNOW I don't hate you, and I was just annoyed and I needed to vent. I'm sorry. Hope you forgive me. And it's all good now b/c you sent me Zack Efron, who is FREAKIN HOT. Thanks. I lub u babe. Just don't ever ask me what's for lunch again. Please.

I feel so used...LOL
Wednesday, July 18, 2007

Over the past year my coworker, Natalie, and I have become really good friends. I'm grateful to have met her and her roommate Caitlin, who doesn't work with us but does work for one of our clients. Last week while I was on vacation I had lunch with these two in Caitlin's company's cafeteria (pretty decent and cheap food). I forgot we audit her company, so of course we ran into some of my coworkers. At first they thought I had quit and was now working for the client, but I explained I was just having lunch with a friend who happened to work there.

Anyway, last night Natalie called me saying that Caitlin passed by the audit room and saw a really good looking guy from my office. I'm thinking say what? there's no good looking men in our office. Oh wait. It must be him. See, there's this really good looking staff in our office, who apparently is admired by all the staff. I had heard the rumors myself but just said meh I'll believe it when I see it. No joke, I first ran into this guy in the mailroom about two months ago, and I swear my jaw just dropped. Don't get me wrong, I don't have a crush on him or anything, but I can't deny that he IS good looking. I think he was a hair model or something. I would never go out with this guy or anything even if he is my age. He's ranked below me, hah there I said it. I'm a title snob.

So now Caitlin wants to have lunch with me today and sit near my office buddies so she can get a glimpse at her new eye candy. Oh dear. I guess the good news is that I already had lunch there last week, so it won't seem that weird to my coworkers if they see me again. But still, I can't help but feel like I'm a semi-stalker. At least I'm not the mastermind behind this operation, I'm just the accomplice. Man what is this? High school? Geez. I must be really craving some excitement in my life. And even though I say this is for Caitlin, and this is her eye candy... I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't mind taking a gander myself. =P
