| Someone please buy me this book! |
| Wednesday, March 05, 2008 |
Okay I took this idea from my friend Natalie, but I seriously want to read this now. He's Just Not That Into You by Greg Behrendt and Liz Tuccillo. I've been reading excerpts from it online, and each scenario is both funny and eye opening to me. Before I share with you the big eye opener for me (since you probably didn't hit that link anyway)... I want to preface it by saying, this is the end of my pursuit of GB. I sent him a message and a week later, even though I know he's seen it, has not replied. And I'll admit... I was feeling embarrassed, sorry for myself and feeling like I won the biggest loser contest (no, not the weight loss one). But this passage has finally helped me get over it.
The "Maybe I Don't Want to Play Games" Excuse
Dear Greg, This is dumb. I know you're not supposed to call guys, but I call guys all the time because I don't care! I don't want to play games. I do whatever I want! I've called guys tons of times. You're such a square, Greg. Why do you think we can't call guys and ask them out? Nikki
Dear Nikki, Because we don't like it. Okay, some guys might like it, but they're just lazy. And who wants to go out with Lazy Guy? It's that simple. I didn't make the rules and I might not even agree with them. Please don't be mad at me, Nikki. I'm not advocating that women go back to the Stone Age. I just think you might want to be realistic in how capable you are of changing the primordial impulses that drive all of human nature. Or maybe you're the chosen one.
Men, for the most part, like to pursue women. We like not knowing if we can catch you. We feel rewarded when we do. Especially when the chase is a long one. We know there was a sexual revolution. (We loved it.) We know women are capable of running governments, heading multinational corporations, and raising loving children — sometimes all at the same time. That, however, doesn't make men different.
IT'S SO SIMPLE Imagine right now that I'm leaping up and down and shaking my fist at the sky. I'm on my knees pleading with you. I'm saying this in a loud voice: "Please, if you can trust one thing I say in this book, let it be this: When it comes to men, deal with us as we are, not how you'd like us to be." I know it's an infuriating concept — that men like to chase and you have to let us chase you. I know. It's insulting. It's frustrating. It's unfortunately the truth. My belief is that if you have to be the aggressor, if you have to pursue, if you have to do the asking out, nine times out of ten, he's just not that into you. (And we want you to believe you're one of the nine, ladies!) I can't say it loud enough: You, the superfox reading this book, are worth asking out.
HERE'S WHY THIS ONE IS HARD, by Liz Well, it's obvious. Are you telling us that we have to just sit around and wait? I don't know about you, but I find that infuriating. I was brought up to believe that hard work and good planning are the keys to making your dreams come true. I spent my life making things happen for myself. I worked hard for my career, and was quite aggressive about it. I called people, made appointments, asked for favors. I took action. But now Greg is telling us that in this situation, we are supposed to do absolutely nothing. The guys get to pick. We're just supposed to put on our little dresses and do our hair and bat our eyes and hope they choose us. Why don't you just tie my corset too tight so I can faint in front of some man who'll scoop me out of the way just before the horse-drawn carriage runs over me? That'll get his attention. Really, in this day and age, the hardest thing to do for many women, particularly me, is nothing. We like to scheme, make phone calls, have a plan. And I'm talking about more than just making sure our hair doesn't frizz. Most women who date, I would guess, don't have men throwing themselves at them every night of the week. Sometimes there's a long stretch during which nobody's asking us out. So when we see a guy that we feel might be a romantic possibility, it's even harder for us to take a backseat. That opportunity might not come back again for a long time. But guess what: My way? Has sucked. Hasn't worked at all. I've never had a successful relationship with a guy that I've pursued. I'm sure there are many stories out there to the contrary. But for me, those guys end up getting back together with their ex-girlfriend, needing to take some time for themselves, or going out of town for business. Usually it doesn't even get that far. They usually just don't ever return my phone call. And let me tell you, that didn't make me feel very in control of anything. Since I've been implementing Greg's handy-dandy "he's just not that into you" philosophy, I've been feeling surprisingly more powerful. Because if the men are asking you out, if the men have to get your attention, then you, in fact, are the one in control. There's no scheming and plotting. And there is something great about knowing that my only job is to be as happy as I can be about my life, and feel as good as I can about myself, and to lead as full and eventful a life as I can, so that it doesn't ever feel like I'm just waiting around for some guy to ask me out. And most importantly, it's good for us all to remember that we don't need to scheme and plot and beg to get someone to ask us out. We're fantastic.
And let's not forget that my last relationship, although it lasted for five years, in the end it failed... and now people are telling me after the fact that they always felt I loved Benny more than he loved me, because I was the pursuer back in college.
But wait now, let's throw in another variable into the equation. I'm really considering signing up for an online dating thing. No not myspace, sillies, I'm talking legit stuff. i.e. Match.com or eHarmony. Now is that still considered being an aggressor?Labels: Church crush, coffee talk, Dating, Venting |

| Date with Dance Class Guy |
| Sunday, November 04, 2007 |
So I just got home from a date with this guy from dance class. "Dance Class Guy," or DCG for short, picked me up at 4:30, and it's now a little past 8pm. That was probably the earliest date I've ever had. I thought maybe we were going to hang out for awhile, then have dinner around 6 or 7. No, we pretty much went straight to the restaurant since he said he was used to eating dinner early (I think he said his parents eat dinner around 3 or 4pm). Thank goodness I didn't eat lunch today or I woulda been too full to think about eating at such an early time.
We went to a Japanese restaurant because he said he loves Japanese food. Apparently, he lived/studied abroad in Japan for 2.5 years. I'm still debating on whether or not he really meant it when he said Japanese is his favorite food, since he ordered the chicken teriyaki, while I got the real stuff (and by real I mean raw). We chatted about his studies, and I learned that he's trying to get his teaching credentials and eventually teach Chinese. SoCal is one of the few places where you will meet a Hispanic guy who loves Japanese drama shows and speaks Japanese and Chinese, but then doesn't even speak Spanish. Anyway, after dinner we went to a coffee shop and chatted some more. I guess it's a good thing I'm home so early, since tomorrow is Monday and DCG was nice enough to allow me some down time tonight.
So here's the deal. He's got a lot of good qualities to him. He works hard, studies hard, and is fun in dance class. He chews with his mouth closed, and opens all the doors for me, including the car door, so I know he's got manners. But.... I'm not really attracted to him. There, I said it. I admit it. I mean, I already knew I wasn't attracted to him, but I still agreed to the date, since he's not a creep and I do like chatting with him in dance class. But now I'm getting the sense that he really likes me and is attracted to me. So we'll see, I'll go with the flow for now, but if I'm not feelin it still, then I'll just have to let him know that I'm not interested in more than friendship.
So I think I covered the key points to the date. If there's anything else you wanna know about DCG, ask away.Labels: Dating, DCG |

| The Ick Factor |
| Sunday, July 08, 2007 |
My good buddy Siao and I were talking about dating and how it's so much harder to be the guy asking a girl out. You gotta give some guys props out there- the ones who at least have some courage. I mean, they put themselves out there, and totally take a risk at being rejected. I know a lot of times we girls don't even give the guy a chance. Yes, we have every right to say "no," it happens. But I think a mistake that some guys make is that when they finally do hear a "yes" response, they develop the ick factor.
What is the ick factor? It's the qualities that make you (the guy) look desperate, and slightly creepy. Let me give you an example. I knew this guy in college named George. He was a nice guy, able to carry conversation, and was pretty smart. The problem was that he hadn't had a girlfriend/date in a long time, and it was all he would ever talk about. The guy was always pointing out cute girls to me, but when I suggested he talk to them, he never would. Oh brother. One day he tells me he asked a girl from one of his classes out and she said yes. Okay, now this was promising. I thought maybe there's hope for him after all. But what does he do for their first date? Takes the girl to Disneyland, treats her to one of the fancy overpriced restaurants there, and gets her like a dozen roses. Yup. Ick factor. There it is.
Needless to say, the girl never requested a second date, and George was scratching his head wondering what happened and what he did wrong. Now before I dive futher, let me point out that I am not a dating expert. I'm a total newbie when it comes to dating. But I am a girl. Siao and I discussed this at length, he giving his perspective as a guy, me as a girl. It's easier said than done, but here are some tips I think might help guys out there like this:
1) Be confident. Girls can always tell when you lack confidence. I once had a guy ask me out and before I could explain my answer he said "It's a no huh? Is it because you don't think I'm attractive?" Umm... wtf?! That changed my tentative no answer to a definite no. So be confident. How do you develop confidence? Well, it helps when you know how much you have to offer someone and you know that a girl's "no" just means they are missing out.
2) If a girl says yes, don't freak her out by overdoing it. This means keeping the first date casual. Going all out kinda makes you look like you're so grateful someone said yes to you that you're desperately trying to hold on to it, as opposed to getting to know the girl a little more. Does this mean you can't give flowers? No, of course not. Just don't overdo it. So this will vary depending on the type of girl. The fancier the atmosphere, the more tense the date tends to get. I would keep it casual as much as possible, to allow more time to chat and be relaxed.
3) Follow up on her interests, but again, don't go overboard. I know this guy who has a bit of ick factor in him... he was in love with this girl who he knew loved stuffed animals. So what did he do? (true story, btw) He made her a teddy bear from scratch. Like literally learned how to sew, bought stuffing, etc. and tried to be his own "build-a-bear" workshop. I saw his bear project once, it was just the bear head, and omg it was creepy. I can't believe how much time/money he spent making that bear. So if a girl says she likes chocolate, okay fine you can buy her a small box of chocolate. But the minute you do anything that is out of the way, it's obvious you're either in love with the girl or just trying too hard. Save those kind of gifts for later as your relationship progresses.
4) Keep an open mind and be sociable. Most guys I know with the Ick Factor have this in common... they only go to social events when they know most of the people there or if they know a cute/hot girl will be there. This is a big no no. Why? Because you never know who you'll meet and how far networking can get you. So what if you didn't meet a cute girl that night; you might have met someone else, a potential friend who then invites you to something else where you'll meet more people. It's a domino effect. You never want to limit yourself to the same places with familiar faces, otherwise you won't ever meet anyone new.
So there you have it. I could probably go on and on, but these are just the basic points that came to my mind when I was talking with Siao. I don't think many guys will be seeing this, but it's also a good reminder for us girls. It can sorta work the same way for us I guess. For me, I'm working on number 4, trying to get out of my comfort zone and try new things. So if you know someone struggling with Ick Factors, this might be something to think about.Labels: coffee talk, Dating |

| Disneyland with Rob! |
| Sunday, June 03, 2007 |
It's the morning after my Disneyland day where I got to spend time with Rob (see previous Chronicles of a Crush posts). Let me just tell you, I am ALL smiles!
Let me start with the bad news... I only had a small window of opportunity with him. He had to leave by 5:30pm, and he arrived later than planned (supposed to be 1pm, but ended up being 2pm). So that only gave me 3 hours to spend time with him. The other bad news... I only got 2 pictures with him. One of them turned out really shadowy, so technically, I only have 1 good picture of the two of us.
Anyway, I met him in the front of the gate. He gave me a big hug and greeted me with his usual cute smile. We made our way in the park, and immediately my cell phone starts ringing. A lot of my coworkers knew Rob was coming, so they wanted to meet him. It's just a little too hard to coordinate that though, since everyone was in different places of the park. Well, I happened to run into my staff Joe and his fiance, who just arrived and were heading to the picnic area. So Rob and I joined them. We had lunch together and Joe's fiance kept saying "I've heard so much about you, Joe talks about you all the time, he says you're his favorite senior." Remind me to thank her later for making me look good in front of Rob, who kept teasing me saying "wow look at you, everyone loves working with you." We got free dessert, which Rob was all excited about. He pointed to the frozen banana (which is dipped in chocolate and covered with nuts) and said "what is that? is there banana inside of that?" Me: "Umm.. that IS a banana." Rob: "Ohhh, how do you know?" Me: "Because it says frozen banana on the wrapper." He couldn't make up his mind between the banana and the Mickey ice cream bar. When the worker said he could grab as many as he wanted, Rob's eyes lit up like a boy on Christmas morning. It was so cute.
The four of us then headed over to Pirates of the Caribbean, since I had already made up my mind that that was a MUST ride with Rob. Joe and his fiance sat in the first row of the boat and Rob and I sat in the second row. Thank goodness we got the whole row to ourselves. Anyway, as soon as I sat down, he immediately sat next to me (on my left) and put his right arm around me. Wow, okay I was not expecting this. I thought I'd be lucky to even get to touch his arm that whole day. So he had his arm around me the WHOLE ride, and during the dark parts, he would lightly squeeze me and bring me closer to him. After that ride we got churros and I introduced Rob to my aunt, uncle, and their four kiddies who were nearby.
After the ride we only had about an hour left before Rob had to head out, so instead of get on another ride, we decided to just hang out and look at the innovention exhibit in tomorrowland. We were standing in the revolving building listening to the guy give his presentation, and once again, Rob brought me closer and put his arm around me. He mentioned something about someone telling him his hairstyle looked like Patrick Dempsey, but he had no idea who PD was. I said, "Oh that's Doctor McDreamy on Grey's Anatomy. I've never seen that show, but yah, that's his nickname, and PD is a good looking guy, so you should take that as a compliment." He's like... "wow, McDreamy huh? what do YOU think?" I said "Well, you don't look like Patrick Dempsey to me, but you do look pretty McDreamy." LOL!
Then he tried to impress me by saying, "So, have you ever built a computer?" Me: "Yah, all the computers I've ever owned (besides my work laptop), I built it myself." Rob:"Like you ordered everything online and Rob: "Oh wow I didn't think you were serious. I was going to say I'm so proud because I just built a computer myself." Me: "So you bought all the separate parts and put it together?" Rob: "No, I went to the Dell website and clicked on all the features I wanted them to assemble." Me: "That's not building a computer, that's ordering one from Dell and specifying your requirements." Rob: "Yah I know, I didn't think you were going to say yes when I said 'Have you ever built a computer?'"
Finally, I had to walk him back out to the front gate, but we sat down again and talked for a little bit before I said goodbye. We talked about random stuff, work, etc. He said he heard Joe mention my birthday so he asked me when it was and what I was doing. I said I wasn't sure yet, but was thinking of having a bbq. He asked if he was invited to which I said Of Course! So now it looks like I have to get going on my birthday plans and send out the invitations soon. He said, "Well, hopefully I can make it, but I'm really glad I got some one on one time with you today." So we hugged, said goodbye and parted ways.
This morning I woke up and saw a text message on my phone from Rob. One of his favorite movie quotes is from the movie Dumb and Dumber, where Jim Carrey says "Yesterday was one of the greatest days of my life. Mary and I went skiing, we made a snowman, she touched my leg." Rob once brought that up and I remembered the quote so I said it, and we both started laughing, so it's sorta become an inside joke. Anyway, his phone text message said "Thanks again! Twas a great time. We had churros together, we saw pirates, and I touched your arm a couple of times."
Needless to say, I'm very giddy right now. Ahh, I love Disneyland!Labels: Dating |

| Chronicles of a Crush |
| Thursday, May 03, 2007 |
I've only had 3 crushes my entire life. One was a minor crush from 7th-10th grade. Second was " Nick", 11th grade. And third was Benny, sophomore year college. So I haven't really had a crush in over 5 years. Well, I'm back in the game baby, and let me tell you, it's scary and exciting to be going through this again. Although I've matured over the years, I've noticed that that "feeling" hasn't changed. You know what I'm talking about... that giddy, exciting, giggling all the time feeling. Man, I feel like a high school kid all over again! But instead of writing down everything about my crush on Hello Kitty stationary to share with my friends, I've decided to document it here, and make updates as the time goes by. Should be fun. So let's start.... (updated to reflect newer posts on top) May 18, 2007 - We're going to Disneyland! So my firm is having its annual Disneyland day. Basically I get to bring one guest (which in the past was Benny) and we get in for free (including free lunch picnic). So of course I immediately thought of Rob but I was hesitant to ask. Why? I dunno, for me Disneyland is kind of a big deal. It's one of my favorite places to go, despite the long lines, crowded eating areas, etc. It's where Benny and I first admitted our "more than friendship" feelings for each other. And I want to take things slow with Rob, see where this friendship is going. Anyway, I finally asked if he was free that day and he said he'd love to go! Ahhhhh!!! I'm so giddy it's not even funny. The bad news is that he has to leave for another event he's going to at 7pm, but whatever, I'll take what I can get. Just to spend some time with him. So yay for Daphne!! I can't wait.May 11, 2007 - The picture! Our mutual friend was throwing a party. He said he'd be there so of course I showed up, despite really wanting to go swing dancing that night. I brought my camera, and was able to take a really great pic of the two of us. And since I've uploaded the camera pics to my computer, I've probably looked at that pic 25 times in two days. LOL! May 4, 2007 - Second Date?: I was just about to shut down my computer at work today, and got this email from Rob: Let's get together again sometime... maybe next weekend or the following weekend?
I decided to not respond and just shut down my computer and leave work. Can't let him think I'm too eager. So we'll see what happens next. I might just call him. May 2, 2007 - Cinnamon Rolls: I was meeting my cousin after work to have dinner and I told him 6pm sharp! Well, I ended up being the one late, and he called me twice while I was getting in my car, and while I was on the road. When I got to the restaurant I was so frustrated I couldn't find parking and the phone rang again. I answered in a rude tone "Hello!" (about ready to shout, yah yah I'm coming, I'm just parking. sheesh!) Hey Daphne!Uhhhhh, WHO IS THIS? What? You don't know who this is? Don't you have caller ID?Umm, I'm in my car driving, I have you on speaker. Sorry, who is this? (I glance down really quick and oh shit, it's Rob!) It's me Rob, your best friend!Oh gosh, sorry! I thought you were my cousin. Sorry, can I call you back in 2 seconds? I'm parking my car right now. Sure(30 seconds later) Hey Daph!Hi Rob, sorry about that, that was really rude of me. Haha, it's okay. So what are you up to tonight?I'm having dinner with my cousin, why? Well I'm gonna hang out with some friends tonight, thought if you were in town you might wanna hang out. We're just going to chill, have some cinnamon rolls. Hahaha! Cinammon rolls? That's pretty random. But man that sounds good right now, I'm starving. But I'm actually not in town, by the time I get back it will be late. Aww, well maybe next time then. Yah sorry! Okay take care. So that was the gist of our conversation. By the time I walked in the restaurant, I was like wishing I hadn't agreed to have dinner with my cousin. After all, he lives right around the corner from me! haha. Then again, this might be good because now Rob won't think I'm a total loser that never has any plans. Too bad he had to mention cinnamon rolls though. Just thinking about all that warm gooey frosting..... LOL! Yah yah shut up! May 1, 2007 - Yes, we can be friends: I sent him an email this morning just saying hi and asking how his weekend went. Rob said he went to a big singles conference and had a good time. Okay, being like any normal "friend," I said "so, did ya meet anyone you're interested in?" Why did I do that? I have no idea. Maybe I wanted to prove that I could treat this casually and we could be buddies. Bad idea. I spent the whole day antsy and checking my email every hour for his reply. He finally got back to me saying he did meet two gals he was interested in, but they were roommates living in the bay area. Okay, no big deal. I didn't get jealous or anything, I was just freakin happy he wrote back. LOL! He ended his email saying Random Q: Have you ever played Scrabble before?(This is the part where Daphne hopes he's asking that b/c he's gonna invite her to "hang out" and play Scrabble with him) April 24, 2007 - Exchanging personal emails: He randomly sent me an email today telling me about some job opportunities at his company. I said sure I'd check it out, but I asked that given the subject matter, he email me at my other email addy, and not my work one. So he emailed me from his personal email addy too. (hehe, yes I DID plan for this to happen) April 23, 2007 - Second encounter: He came by after work to return my sunglasses. I was just leaving the building and decided to move my car out of the structure to the open lot so that he could see me by the time he got there. Well, as I headed out of the structure, I saw him circling the parking lot. I pulled up beside him and honked. Haha, yah looking back on it now, that was probably rude but I didn't know how else to get his attention. We both parked, then he got out and I went over there. We greeted each other with a hug and a quick "so how are you?" Unfortunately I had dinner plans so I had to bail, but it was good to see him again, and get my sunglasses back! (no, I did not plan all of this) April 21, 2007 - Shades: I got an email from him Saturday with the subject "Shades". I found some sweet sunglasses on my dash this morning....you don't happen to know whose they are, do you? ;) PS - let me know if you'd like them back pretty quickly.....if you're in the area, I'm sure we could meet up somewhere..Okay, now Daphne is starting to get a little giddy... April 20, 2007 - The "non-date" date: I blogged about this here. April 13, 2007 - The scene of the crime: open mic night at a friend's house. I noticed "Rob" sitting next to my friend Dylan, so I figured I'd introduce myself and just make random chit chat with a "new friend." I don't remember many details of that night, except that I did think Rob was cute. Then again, there were a ton of cute lookin guys that night. So honestly, I didn't think twice about it. | It wasn't a date! |
| Monday, April 23, 2007 |
I didn't realize so many people cared about my non-existent social life, but since it's Monday and I'm already receiving numberous emails/texts/IMs about Friday night, here's the story to shut you all up. (hehe, j/k)
So two weeks ago my coworker invited me to his open mic night he and his roomies were hosting on their front lawn. He lives right by the beach and I figured it'd be cool to do something than my normal Friday night dates with Borders. It was a really fun experience, just to chill on the lawn, meet random people and oogle hot guys. Well apparently I must've made an impression on this guy (let's just call him Rob) because Monday morning my coworker said "hey remember that guy Rob from Friday?" Me: "No." Coworker: "oh. well anyway, he asked me for your number, and I gave it to him, is that okay?" Me: "Well shoot, I guess it's okay since you already gave it. But I seriously don't remember what this guy looks like."
Anyway, flash forward to Friday night. We went to this business-y networking event, that included dinner and a guest speaker. I was nervous for a lot of reasons. 1) I'm still somewhat recovering from my last 5 year relationship with Benny 2) I had no idea what this guy looked like (I vaguely remember talking to him and thinking at the time that he was cute) 3) This is technically the first time a random guy has asked me for my number 4) I had no idea what to wear 5) I wasn't sure what his intentions were (basically, was this casual or like a real date?)
I decided to go with my professional business suit. I arrived at his place earlier than he expected, b/c when I called he said "oh you're here already?! shoot, i'm not ready yet, but let me get the door for you" So he opened the door, and invited me in. Well hello there, I thought to myself. He's pretty cute. I stepped in and he gave me the up and down perusal. (By now I'm already blushing) "Wow, you look great," he said. "Thanks, I wasn't sure if this would be appropriate for tonight," I replied. "Oh no that's perfect, you look great. Okay have a seat and I'll be ready in a few minutes." He was ready in about 8 minutes and we left and got in his spiffy truck. He opened my door of course, and we headed over to the hotel where the dinner event was.
We got there kind of early so we decided to walk the grounds and chat/get to know each other better. One thing that was embarrassing... I borrowed my mom's new cute pumps (my work pumps are a bit old fashioned looking) and they were a little looser than I thought so I was taking major baby steps. Well, we crossed this wooden bridge and wouldn't you know it, my heel gets caught in the gap. I almost fell, it was so embarrassing, but he helped me up and I just laughed it off.
So moving on... we arrive at the hall and sign in. I notice right away that I'm the minority in the crowd. I was pretty much the only asian girl in the predominantly caucasian-filled room. It's not really an issue for me, but I did stand out like a sore thumb. He politely introduced me to acquaintances and I think I was able to carry on conversation pretty well. I do have experience in attending these business type events. But I'd be lying if I said I wasn't intimidated by the crowd. There were top execs from major companies all over the room, CEOs, CFOs, etc. Yah, I was a little scared.
We sat at our designated table (thankfully the back corner) and were joined by 4 more ppl at our table. Twice during the evening I heard comments made to Rob like "Wow, is that your guest? She's a cutie, good job" or "Better hold on to her, she's beautiful." It was a little awkward because hello! I'm standing right here I can hear you ppl! Yet flattering at the same time, yes, definitely nice to hear that. We had a nice dinner, chatted a bit, and then listened to the guest speaker.
The only "weird" part about the evening was the fact that the majority of attendees were LDS, and I wasn't. That's totally fine, and I knew it was going to be like that, but a lady asked me a question that totally caught me off guard. She said "what school did you go to?" followed by "oh that's nice. Were you a part of the Institute?" Okay. For me, the only institute I know of is a mental institute, so I had this really confused look on my face. I said "sorry, I'm not sure I know what the institute is." Well that was pretty much the dead giveaway that I'm not a LDS. She was extremely nice about it though, and whenever other LDS terms came up she just politely explained them to me. Dang, I thought I knew my basic terms already. Guess I missed the memo on the whole institute thing. It's ok no biggie.
So after the event was over we started to head out. An announcement was made saying we could bring home the table centerpieces. Rob said "Sweet, I'm going to take ours I want to give it to this girl." .......**cricket cricket** I guess he realized immediately what he said because he followed it by "Oh no but don't worry, she's like 43 years old and she's a neighbor of mine." Hahaha! Oh that was priceless. I just started laughing and said "It's okay you don't have to explain." We went back to his place and from there we kinda wanted to hang out more but wasn't sure where we could go. I said, we don't have to go anywhere we can just hang out here.
So we went back to his place, I had a change of clothes (no way I was gonna keep wearing my suit and stockings) and put on my jeans and sweater inside. He went inside to change too and when he came out he had a button down collared shirt and a sweater over it. Well the buttons were crooked and the shirt was all lopsided. He said "Oh shoot I think I might need your help." Hm. That was kinda weird. haha. We then sat on the couch and just talked. Talked talked talked, about work, school, family, his mission, music, all kinds of things. It was really relaxed and I didn't feel as nervous as the dinner event. At one point we looked back at the program and were looking through the names of the execs. He got up all close to me so he could read it too, and I swear, it was... I dunno. Nice? LOL
It was a little after 11 when I left, and he walked me to my car. Told me about the next event and said he'd love to hang out again. Then he gave me a hug. So that's pretty much it. My non-date! It wasn't a date okay people?Labels: Dating, Friends |
